FAQ

The questions found here have been asked of us repeatedly. We do update this list from time to time, so if you do not see your question here, feel free to click here and ask us directly.

Is this better than a particle separator?
Is this better than a sand filter?
I've heard that the TOT will be lower with this filter installed. Is this true?
How do you clean the filter element and how long does it take?
How much time between filter element cleanings?
What happens if I over oil the filter element?
How long does a filter element last?
What do I do if the low-pressure light comes on while I'm operating away from any ground support?
What's the difference between the red tacking oil you used to supply and the blue oil you supply now?
What is the part number for the S-76 replacement element set?

Is this better than a particle separator?
Yes. With the filter there is no requirement for bleed air, TOT drops. There is less power loss and better filtration efficiency.

Is this better than a sand filter?
Yes. A sand filter, particle separator, IPS, and EAPS are all vortex tube separators.

I've heard that the TOT will be lower with this filter installed. Is this true?
Yes it is. Please call our customer support department for a discussion on how much lower you can expect your TOT to be with your aircraft.

How do you clean the filter element and how long does it take?
To clean the filter element you simply apply a non-diluted soap, allow it to soak and rinse it with water. The time required for cleaning depends on quantity and type of dirt you've trapped. Cleaning and rinsing takes approximately one hour. Drying time depends on your local weather conditions.

How much time between filter element cleanings?
The filter elements should be cleaned every 100 hours, or as required by illumination of the low-pressure light.

What happens if I over oil the filter element?
If you over oil the filter element, you'll need to re-clean and oil it again.

How long does a filter element last?
The filter elements should be replaced after 1500 hours.

What do I do if the low-pressure light comes on while I'm operating away from any ground support?
Open the bypass door via the control panel and clean the filter element at your first available opportunity. Keep in mind that any loose leaves, grass, or bugs can usually be "knocked" out of the element without having to go through the washing process.

What's the difference between the red tacking oil you used to supply and the blue oil you supply now?
The blue oil shipping now has been tinted to distinguish it from hydraulic fluid. It has the same part number and formulation as the old red oil. When ordering new fluid you will receive the new blue oil as we are no longer shipping the red oil.

What is the part number for the S-76 replacement element set?
P/N:1076K20 consists of 2 x Main Element, P/N: 1076A2-1 and 2 x Front Element, P/N: 1076A4-3.
